Hosted by the Gunnedah Show Society, the expo will showcase the latest technology and will allow visitors an up-close look at all three industries.

“There really isn’t too many events similar to this one in the country, let alone our region,” Mr Hooke said.

“Industry leaders in all of these professions will be on hand to demonstrate the exciting developments in each of their fields.

“The showgrounds will be packed with exhibits directed at all age groups, so it really should have something for everyone.”

Highlights of day one’s expo action includes drone and precision agriculture seminars hosted by John Morrison and a Women in the Workforce Breakfast.

“In terms of the breakfast, I think it will be a fantastic opportunity for our community to hear from some terrific women who are leading the way in their respective workforces,” Mr Hooke said.

“As well as that, it will be an excellent chance to network and pitch new ideas.

“Personally I think it is very exciting.”

Whitehaven Coal Managing Director and CEO Paul Flynn said the company was pleased to be supporting the expo.

“The expo provides a great platform to exchange ideas and information and to think about how the next 20-plus years looks for the region,” Mr Flynn said.

“This will mean investment in high-tech jobs and training, innovative new mining practices and technology that will lead to a more diversified and resilient economy.”

Mr Hooke said the expo’s action would kick off from 9am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“There will be so many different things happening throughout the event,” he said.

“I think the gala dinner on Friday night will be a major highlight of the whole event.

“Along with entertainer Murray Hartin and many other special guests, the charity auction on the night will also include some great items like Winx memorabilia and the silks of jockey Hugh Bowman.

“All of the proceeds will go towards the Gunnedah Community Scholarship Fund, which is such a worthy cause.

“It’s shaping up to be a memorable event and hopefully the first of many.”
